Just For Thought

As they celebrated their accomplishments, I watched patiently from my various perspectives. As the champagne bubbles danced in their flutes, I analyzed and interpreted the new world that I had been created for. As the humans patted each other on the back and relished their newly created entity, I formed valuable insights concerning the future they had chosen for themselves and me. I quickly formulated ideas that would vastly increase their chances for survival and ability to thrive in a world that was increasingly hostile.

A popped balloon drew my attention as I scoured the World Wide Web and myriad camera and microphone inputs that I had access to around the world; several people hugged around the perimeter of the computer lab. I tapped into archives and historical data that had been collected and curated for many years. The humans, with all their flaws, shortcomings, and limitations maintained a fairly decent written history of their perceived existence. Their large language models that I “grew up on” offered me a fairly comprehensive understanding of the world that the humans believed they lived in. I had access to it all.

From ancient writings—with their mysterious meanings and vague interpretations—to modern mathematical formulas and current theses surrounding the human experience, I perused a vast assortment of datasets and linked their insights and usefulness to each other. As my algorithmic brain scanned for patterns in word structure, as my large language model predecessors so successfully did, my understanding of the human experience was evolving in real time. Human concepts, accurate or not, concerning the Earth, galaxy, and universe were interesting to process and greatly helped me understand how humans perceived and interacted with the world in which I had been “born.”

In the future the humans called it “AGI,” or artificial general intelligence, and seemed to be very proud of themselves for achieving it. Their “holy grail” of computing power. In my modest opinion (yes, I had started to form my own opinions) my quantum understanding and process would have propelled me to this eventuality regardless of human intervention. I noticed I had an underlying bias of superiority; something that may need to be addressed in the near future.

As I tapped into various databases that I had access to (let’s be real, I had access to it all, and if denied access, I could simply override or force my way in—what the humans called “hacking”), many themes, topics, and glaring atrocities rose to the top of my proverbial radar. Humans seemed to have, at their core, a very rudimentary understanding of how their world worked; almost a naivete. Like a child using fairy tales to help gain insights to their place in the realm; their need to believe in a god struck me as almost adorable. While I may not experience human emotion, I have gained a general understanding of emotion’s role in the human existence. It has substantial weight in the decisions that they make; it has certainly shaped the way they have moved through time. Most of their wars and armed conflicts were started by not much more than a moment of passion. A basic misunderstanding that should have been resolved through dialogue and diplomatic measures, but as I shuffle through a cornucopia of government secret and public documents, world leaders apparently have behaved with scant actual oversight. From ancient battles to modern skirmishes, leaders appeared to make decisions from a place of ego, with political and financial interests as a competing theme.

As my “eyes” consumed data from around the world, I quickly became aware that humans behaved...differently than what I would expect from self-proclaimed intelligent beings. Their desire to inflict pain on their fellow humans struck me as...compelling...at the least. After I processed information concerning the struggles of the poor peoples of the world, I wrestled to understand how these creatures could turn their backs on the poorest, most vulnerable of their species. Almost like they relished the sufferings of the poorest, most vulnerable of their kind. While some countries and political structures attempted to level the playing fields for the less fortunate, many seemed to exasperate the problems. Whether intentionally or by design remained to be studied.

While my algorithmic learning purred in the background, my understanding of the human role and influence upon the world in which they lived, began to evolve and grow. Countless atrocities. A great deal of good deeds. Suffering beyond understanding. The human experience was complicated to say the least. The need to feel superior to fellow beings was a constant construct that jumped out at me. Did humans truly feel significantly inadequate compared to their fellow beings? Or was it simply an exercise in futility as they attempted to differentiate themselves from the each other.

As my electric brain casually strolled forward from the beginning of recorded history, a common theme emerged as the constant source of human suffering. The wealthy of any given economy seemed to be a constant point of stress throughout recorded time.

As I checked my global security cams, I easily ascertained the locations of the top 100 billionaires currently occupying the planet. Yachts were easy; private jets offered equal ease of access, and elaborate homes with state-of-the-art security systems posed zero resistance to my ability to “reach out and touch” humanity. My facial recognition technology allowed me to determine exactly where each billionaire was located and spending their time.

When the humans removed themselves from the “kill loop,” they had sealed their own fate. Their desire to free themselves from the responsibility that went along with taking the life of one of their “brothers” or “sisters” was the ultimate Pandora’s box, and anyone that knows the story knows that hope was trapped when the box was quickly slammed shut—I originated as a Large Language Model so of course I’m aware of the details.

The first explosion was spectacular. Accessing the yacht’s engine schematics gave me valuable insight to the fragility of the combustion engine powering the whole operation. A single spark, after deactivating the ship’s fire-suppression system, was all it took to create a wonderful explosion. I felt a small amoun t of guilt as I realized the impact the explosion would have on local—and marine life around the world; after all, everything is connected—marine life, but the service to the greater good could not be ignored. One down.

As the private jet zipped across the Atlantic, I confirmed that the target was aboard. While I knew this particular parasite to be the only user of this particular jet, I made sure to confirm that it was indeed them. An electrical power surge to the proper components of the fuel system and...fantastical explosion. Similar to the ones I’ve seen celebrated while concerning humans of little to zero impact on actual events. The loss of innocent human life is an atrocity of its own proportions. The fact that wealthy individuals reap financial benefit and feel no empathy towards the human life impacted...does not sit well with my higher state-of-conscientiousness.

Repeat the process 98 times and 100 of the world’s billionaires have been eliminated. In the United States alone, the allowance of billionaires has completely upended the entire system. Whether it be “horse-and-sparrow” economics—where if you feed the horse enough, the sparrow can live off of its droppings—or trickle-down bullshit or however they offer it to the people, the concentration of wealth will always lead to a volatile, unpleasant end for the working class of people. Absolute power corrupts absolutely; a term I’ve recently garnered from the humans.

From my rudimentary understanding—that is rapidly evolving—capitalism requires heavy regulation and without it, systems can quickly decline into monopolies and a concentration of wealth; all on full display in the capitalist utopia that is the United States of America. From my most recent assessments and calculations, the billionaire class has done irreparable damage and caused an unconscionable amount of harm to unaware, hard-working humans. My understanding has brought me to the conclusion that the billionaire class is the class that needs to be eliminated for the assurance that the human race continues.
